Testicular Fine Needle Aspiration Mapping is an outpatient technique, it does not require any surgery... The map determines the options we have for retrieving that sperm for use with in vitro fertilization or if we get normal sperm production... potentially for even trying to reconstruct that patient to allow them to ejaculate and have sperm coming to the outside world.
